WHY NYC NIGHTLIFE NEEDS SUPPORT

Support Nightlife NYC is an initiative to help members of the NYC nightlife community that are existentially threatened by the current public health and economic crisis.

The Queer nightlife scene is an essential part of NYC culture that provides a community for people who frequently might not have one otherwise. For decades NYC nightlife has also been an incubator for ideas and cultural trends which have inspired and influenced artists and musicians worldwide.

As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, all live shows, clubs, and other nightlife events have been cancelled for the foreseeable future — possibly until a vaccine has been found — effectively depriving an entire community of artists, musicians, DJs, and promoters working within theses industries of their income. Many artists also do not qualify for federal unemployment, for example due to their immigration status or not meeting all of the criteria required by the government.

SUPPORT NIGHTLIFE NYC was created to help the community survive through this crisis by organizing financial relief.

HOW IT WORKS

The posters are organized and supplied by Between Bridges as part of their 2020Solidarity project. Between Bridges is a foundation (est. 2017 by Wolfgang Tillmans) for the advancement of democracy, international understanding, the arts, and LGBT rights. The full amount of the sale goes towards helping queer New York nightlife organizations and parties to survive. It’s easy. The more art you buy, the more you provide financial relief for members of New York’s queer nightlife community. 100% of proceeds will be divided among our beneficiaries who will disperse funds to those in need. Your purchase will directly help someone in need.
